Description

Standalone 9V Battery Heat Detector, Alkaline Battery 10M Coverage, Low Battery Warning Test & Silence Button

The Standalone 9V Heat Detector is a reliable, battery-powered device for finding significant temperature rise in its immediate environment, providing early alarm for impending fire peril. As a smoke-sensitive device, it is a critical protection for residential, office, and commercial spaces, and for any location in which smoke detection can become inoperative and impractical (e.g., kitchens, garages, dusty spaces). With a 9V alkaline battery driving it, it comes with an unobtrusive and simple installation and maintenance with key features such as low battery alert, testing, and a silence feature for ease of use.

1. Heat Detection Technology:
The Standalone Heat Detector is operated with a variation in ambient temperature and not smoke. It will detect a quick temperature rise generated by a fire and sound an alarm when a temperature rise over a level programmed, for instance, 57°C to 70°C (135°F to 158°F) is experienced.
Some models will include an adjustable temperature, and one can dial in a specific activation temperature for one’s specific requirements and environment.
The heat detector will work best in locations in which traditional smoke detectors will not work effectively, such as in kitchens, garages, and workbenches, in which smoke can cause nuisance alarm occurrences.

2. 9V Alkaline Battery Power:
The device utilizes a 9V alkaline battery, providing a reliable source of power for the detector. Alkaline batteries can simply be replaced and can be readily purchased, and with enough juice, will enable a long period of operational use for the detector.
Battery Life: 1 to 2 years, with model, use, and environment variation, is an average for 9V alkaline battery.
Low Battery Indicator: There is a low-battery warning feature in the heat detector, and it periodically chirps when the battery is low and must be replaced, keeping the device in working state at all times.

3. Test Functionality:
The Test Button allows one to make a simple testing of the heat detector in an attempt to confirm its proper function. With a simple press of a button, it emulates alarm-conditioning and allows one to confirm that it works in a proper manner.
Routine Testing: It is a good practice to regularly test at least monthly to verify that the heat detector is in a working state and that its battery is in working state. Frequent testing will verify that in an emergency, the device will respond in a proper manner.

4. Silence (Hush) Button:
The Silence button is a convenient feature that temporarily quiets down the alarm when it is sounded off through a spurious temperature reading or in a non-emergency situation (e.g., when a rapid temperature rise is generated through a transient source of heat, such as sunlight).
When the alarm is triggered, a button press can temporarily mute it for a duration of a definite period (most commonly 10 to 5 minutes). In such an interval, environment will continue to monitor, and when temperature reaches a normal level, alarm will not sound off.
This feature helps in reducing frustration with spurious alarm, providing an easy mechanism for dealing with non-threatening temperature fluctuations.

5. Coverage Area:
The Standalone 9V Battery Heat Detector will have a range of about 10 meters (about 30 feet) in diameter, with variation in range based on installation environment and model. That range will span a small to a medium room or room space.
The device is mounted in ceilings, and, with warm air rising, mounting the detector in a ceiling position optimizes its temperature-sensitive position.

6. Installation:
The heat detector is an easy installation with a minimum of tools involved. Installation is typically achieved through mounting onto a ceiling with screws, brackets, or adhesive mounting (depending on model).
The unit’s thin and lightweight design makes it perfect for use in residential and commercial environments. It can be installed in areas such as kitchens, garages, warehouses, attics, basements, and areas with high smoke, high dust, and high moisture in which traditional smoke detectors cannot effectively work.

7. Audible Alarm:
When the temperature reaches a certain level, a loud alarm (generally at a level of approximately 85 decibels and over) will sound in case of a suspected case of overheat or fire and alert tenants.
The alarm is loud enough to be heard even in loud settings or even during sleep, with enough duration for the occupancies to respond and evacuate the property in case of urgency.

8. Maintenance:
Battery Replacement: The 9V alkaline battery will have to be replaced at times, ideally at least one a year, or at first sign of low battery, when low-battery alarm is triggered. Put in a new battery and ensure terminals are cleaned for best performance.
Cleaning: Dust and debris will collect over a period of time, and one must, therefore, regularly clean out the detector. Cleaning can be achieved with a soft cloth, a vacuum cleaner with a brush head, to remove debris and dust off of vent and face of the detector.

9. Compliance and Requirements:
The heat detector will, in general, follow national and international standards for protection against fires, in that it will detect temperature accurately and consistently.
In the case of America, for example, it can be in compliance with UL 521 (Standard for Heat Detectors), and in Europe, it can comply with the normative EN 54-5 for heat detectors.
The device can be installed in residential and commercial environments, with regard for compliance with codes for buildings and fires.

10. Applications:
Residential Use: This smokeless heat detector is best utilized in kitchens, basements, attics, garages, and any spaces with temperature fluctuations, or spaces in which smoke detectors can cause unnecessary alarm. It is a safe alternative for early stage fires when smoke hasn’t yet developed.
Commercial Use: It can be installed in factories, warehouses, store spaces, server rooms, and such environments in which excessive heat gain is an issue but in which smoke will not necessarily become apparent at first glance.
Industrial and Other Environments: In fact, even in industries with high temperatures and dusty environments, in which traditional smoke detectors will not work, one can use this device.

11. Design and Appearance:
The heat detector comes with a small, white housing, and its discreet shape enables it to integrate with most ceiling structures with ease. With its discreet presence, it is perfect for residential or commercial environments in which looks matter.
The front faceplate in many cases bears an LED current state display, for instance: Green LED: Operating normally, Red LED: Alarm started or temperature reached, Flashing LED: Indicates low battery or fault alarm

The Standalone 9V Battery Heat Detector with low battery alarm, testing function, and silence button is a simple, convenient device for temperature change alarm in areas in which conventional smoke detectors cannot effectively work. With its 10-meter range, ease of installation, and maintenance, it is an ideal device for residential and commercial use. In a garage, a warehouse, a kitchen, and any other room, its use ensures fire security through early alarm for fires started through high temperature rise.
